So I’m a big fan of any of the Melissa and Doug products (check out a TON of them here) but I am especially loving their watercolor notepad called Water Wow. Now it says this is for kids 3+ but I honestly have no idea why. Pfeiffer (almost 1 now) loves anything to do with coloring and writing (including chewing on crayons and pens and pretending to draw on paper or write in her books…so smart) and this is the perfect mess-free outlet for her. Oh and she loves anything to do with water so this is really fitting! She tried this for the first time up at our cabins when she borrowed her cousins’ (thanks Ava and Ethan!) and she thought it was pretty cool.

If you haven’t used one, you simply fill up the little pen with water and let your kid ‘color’ away. Once it dries you can use it over again! For older kids there are fun ‘find the hidden items’ sections.

It is:

  • Perfect for traveling.
  • Not dangerous if she decides she wants to throw the ‘pen’ (see last picture).
  • Not something I have to worry about her poking her eye out with or eating something toxic.
  • Great for adults to play with it too. Very peaceful and relaxing (yes, I do have an adult coloring book that I should get out).
  • Totally inexpensive!

I am officially adding this to my 1 year old birthday gift list, along with my other go-to item, the LeapFrog Learning Friends 100 Words Book.

Check out a huge variety of fun Water Wow themes here and let me know if you have any questions about them!

Have you used these? What do you/your kids think of them?
